Mark has 19 years of experience in performance improvement, strategy and M&A advisory work with clients, including Bank of America (Project New BAC), Wells Fargo, Kaiser Permanente, Universal Studios, North American Van Lines, Morgan Stanley and Synovus as well as smaller companies. From 2005 to 2008, he was a principal of NightWatch Capital, a concentrated public markets investment fund. Mark began his career as a banking lawyer with Latham & Watkins before joining McKinsey & Company for several years as a strategy and M&A consultant. He then left to acquire and operate a venture-backed retail financial services company, later selling it to a strategic buyer. Mark earned his law degree from Stanford University.
Alec has over 25 years of experience in executive level management and strategic consulting. At Green Dot Corp. he was the GM, Revenue and managed the $550M prepaid card business. Earlier, Alec was CEO of EvoRetail, a visual pattern recognition technology company. Alec also served as CEO of Evolution Robotics, Inc., a robotics software company, and as CEO of University Access, the world’s first online learning company. Alec was a consultant at McKinsey & Co., and an investment banker at Goldman, Sachs & Co. Alec earned his MBA at Harvard Business School and his BA in Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He holds five software and systems patents
Melanie has 20 years of experience advising on strategic and operational change. She has worked with clients across a range of industries including healthcare, financial services, insurance, media, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, and retail. Melanie joined Vici from Promontory Financial Group where she was co-head of its earnings improvement subsidiary, Promontory Growth & Innovation (PG). Prior to working with PGI, she worked both as an independent consultant and for McKinsey & Company where she was part of the Financial Services and Growth practices. She had her own consulting company for many years specializing in operational effectiveness and performance improvement, and has led large scale change programs for multi-national organizations. Previously she was a strategy director for Reuters Plc. Melanie began her career as an investment banker working first for Hambros and then Kidder, Peabody Inc. where she advised on M&A, fund-raising and corporate finance transactions across Europe and North America. Melanie holds a law degree from the University of Bristol and an MBA from London Business School where she was awarded a Friends Scholarship.
Steffen has 18 years of experience primarily leading operational and strategic improvement efforts in industries from financial services to entertainment serving clients as varied as Bank of America and Heinz. In addition to his consulting experience, Steffen founded a start-up nanotechnology company and took it through multiple rounds of venture, customer and government agency financing. He led M&A transactions in Asia, the Middle East, Canada and the U.S. He spent several years with McKinsey & Company focusing on operational improvement and strategy primarily in the technology sector. Steffen earned a PhD in Physics from Princeton University and a B.S. in Engineering Physics from the University of California, Berkeley.
Danny leads ViciPartners’ procurement and sourcing practice. Danny has over 15 years of experience advising senior executives around the world on optimizing the effectiveness of their procurement, facilities and accounts payable functions from organizational design to implementing sustainable cost reduction programs. He has led engagements in many industries including financial services, manufacturing, utility, and higher education. His areas of expertise include strategic and low cost country sourcing, contract negotiations, spend analysis, procurement transformation, supplier development, and Procure-to-Pay. Prior to ViciPartners, Danny was the founder of Cequel Consulting and an executive of Value Management Group, a middle market private equity firm. Danny has a BS in Finance from the University of Florida and a MBA from Emory University.
Lance has over 30 years of strategic consulting and operating experience, principally in the U.S. and Asia. His consulting clients span industries from cosmetics and consumer electronics to software and telecoms. He has been an investor, co-founder, CEO, COO and board member of several companies and has raised well over $100 million for his ventures. Lance began his career as a management consultant with seven years at McKinsey & Company in New York and Tokyo where he spent over 5 years working closely with well-known Japanese strategist Kenichi Ohmae. He earned his MBA from Harvard University Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and marketing from Boston College.
George has more than 25 years of experience advising companies on growth and operational strategy and in senior corporate operating roles. He has advised clients in sectors including retail, corporate and investment banking, healthcare, consumer goods, power generation and transmission and diversified manufacturing. Prior to joining Vici, George co-led Promontory Financial Group’s earnings improvement subsidiary, Promontory Growth & Innovation. Before his tenure at Promontory, George was the founder of a boutique consulting firm that provided revenue-focused advanced analytic solutions to midsize firms. He was also the co-founder and CEO of a private-equity-backed roll-up of manufactured-housing businesses. Earlier, he was a division president at Sara Lee Corp., leading its expansion into Central Europe after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and worked at McKinsey & Co., building the firm’s earnings improvement practice in Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia. George holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and bachelor’s degrees in economics and philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania.
